EOC Review: System of Equations

April 23rd and 24th

The following two videos are reviewing systems of equations which was covered in section 16 and 18 of your workbook.  You will need to have your cream colored graphic organizer that we took together and then you will use pages out of your workbook.  At the end of BOTH videos you will complete page 449 in your workbook for a formative homework grade.

Watch one video each day or you can watch both videos in one day if you feel motivated, but make sure you have watched both by April 24th.

DA Review Warm Ups - week1

April 20th - 24th

On Monday April 20th, you should receive a packet of problems with questions from your previous district assessments that you have taken throughout the year.  These problems were identified as being your lowest performing questions.

First, take about 10 minutes or so and complete the problems for each day on your own or with your group.  After you have completed the problems on your own or with your group, check out the videos below to work through the problems with me and answer any questions you may have.  There are 5 warm ups in the packet, one set of problems for each day.  There is one video for you to watch for each day of the week.

EOC Review: Domain and Range

April 20th - April 22nd

Starting on April 20th we will be reviewing for the Algebra 1 EOC that you will take on Monday, May4th, that gives us 10 days!

The first concept to review is domain and range.  Domain are all the possible x-values and range are all the possible y-values in a function or relation.  Watch the series of 3 videos to review domain and range in a variety of situations.

There will be ONE handout you need to get from the substitute that you will use for ALL 3 videos.  After you finish the third video you may get the practice worksheets from the substitute to apply the skills from the videos.

Video #1: Domain and Range in graphs, tables, ordered pairs, and mapping diagrams

Topic 24: Factoring Continued

April 13th - April 17th

This is the second post for factoring and will finish topic 24.  Make sure you have completed ALL of the factoring videos by April 17th.

24.6 - page 448

Before you watch this video work on the problems on page 448 and then watch the video to help answer any questions and check your work.

Topic 24: Introduction to Factoring

April 6th - April 14th

Topic 24 introduces the concept of factoring quadratic equations.  You were introduced to quadratic functions in topic 22 and you learned how to find solutions to these quadratic functions by graphing and using the Quadratic Formula.  In topic 24 we will learn about another method for finding solutions to quadratic functions called factoring.

The videos follow along in your workbook just like I am going through the lesson with you.  Please make sure you watch and listen to the entire thing and you follow the directions I provide in the video.  There will be 2 posts about factoring, and the entire Topic 24 Factoring unit needs to be completed by April 17th so you have plenty of time to review before your EOC.  That means you need to stay on task the entire class and make sure you are completing the notes and worksheets.

Use the video links below to watch the video and move through topic 24.

Topic 23: Polynomials

March 30th - April 9th

This is the first post for the 2014-2015 school year.  This blog will be used for posting directions, explanations, examples, and videos to watch for lessons and topics.

I post dates with the videos to give you a timeline of where you should be during the next 2 months.  You can work ahead, but don't fall behind.  The substitute will keep you on track and make sure you are working.  There will still be assessments on specific dates, so make sure you are ready for those.

Watch the videos on this blog post to complete the lessons in Topic 23 in your Agile Mind workbook.  Topic 23 discusses polynomials.  The 1st video introduces polynomials and the vocabulary that will be used throughout the lesson.  The 2nd video covers multiplying polynomials, and the 3rd video reviews adding and subtracting polynomials.   We have been multiplying, adding, and subtracting polynomials the entire school year so hopefully the information that I discuss in these videos is a review.  When you have questions please email me: jchipman@irvingisd.net and I will do the best I can to answer it for you.

Laws of Exponents: Multiplication and Division Rules

Today we started exploring the laws of exponents.  We were first introduced to the multiplication and division rules on page 231 in your workbook.  Watch the video and follow along to complete pages 231 - 233.   If you right click on the link below you can open the video in a new tab and keep this blog open to reference if you need to.

https://youtu.be/PJ1sJEUA8qc

You should complete pages 234 - 235 (#1 - 9) as homework.  You will turn this in as a formative grade.  Send me an email with any questions and I will do my best to respond.
